4th to 5th Grade
With a strong foundation built, it’s time to expand on that knowledge base. In the 3-5th Class, students are encouraged to continue to explore more and more of the world and their place within it. With an eye towards our student's future, the primary objective of this class is to give them the tools to gather information, make sense of it, and express their knowledge in a structured fashion. This includes learning to research and glean information from a variety of sources. As with each class, the 3-5th class is built on a foundation of the Bible. Students begin to read more Scripture and get tools for researching and exploring their beliefs. Though it's not quite an academic endeavour, there is an exceptional amount of social growth that happens in this class, which makes the exploration and establishment of Biblical character all the more important. Primary curriculum used: Math-U-See, Real Science 4 Kids, Handwriting Without Tears (Cursive Writing), Sonlight (History/Bible/Literature), The Good and the Beautiful & Fix-it Grammar (ELA)

4th to 5th Grade
Jr. High is an exciting time in education. Our classes get more structured and the concepts get more complex. The class works to provide a balance between self-directed learning and lecture based instruction. Students are encouraged to explore the world, research the why, and express their creativity using the knowledge they gain. They dig into the meanings and context of Bible stories and concepts. Students begin a dedicated writing course, including narrative retellings, research writing, and concept summary, that will prepare them for effective communication of information and their own ideas. Additionally, students begin to take on leadership roles within the student body, including leading by example on the playground and in the lunchroom and helping younger students with tasks and school projects. Primary curriculum used: Math-U-See, Apologia Science, Sonlight (History/Bible/Literature), Typing & Computer Literacy, Fix-it Grammar, Institute for Excellence in Writing
